Lessons In Hip-Hop | Lesson 1: Gang Starr “Moment of Truth”
“Actions have reactions, don’t be quick to judge
You may not know the hardships people don’t speak of
It’s best to step back, and observe with couth
For we all must meet our moment of truth.”
This one taught me a lot! These lyrics spoke to me when I was 18 or 19 years old. They made me recognize the reward of listening more than I talk, being observant and reading the room. This carried me though my 20’s and to this day.
I have been in countless situations, concerts, events, the club, etc and I really learned how to “step back and observe with couth.” As an adult, this is a HUGE lesson a lot of people take years to learn. Fall back, be cool, listen more, take it EASYYYY. You never know someones intentions or story. BE COOL. I think it speaks to carrying a humble spirit as well. Not everything needs a reaction or to be spoke on. Think before you react or respond.
